1. Can I process a check with iPPA?

Yes. iPPA is one of the few iPhone credit card processing applications available in the iTunes App Store that also allows you to process a check.

2. How does check processing work?
You enter the account number and routing number along with the amount and the customer’s name. Just like a credit card, this information is submitted through the Gateway for approval. You will know in a matter of seconds if the transaction has been approved or declined. If declined, you will be given a reason and may choose to re-submit the transaction. If Approved, you are also given the ability to void the transaction prior to being submitted for payment or to refund the transaction if it has already been submitted.

3. Do I pay a discount rate on checks like I do on credit cards?
No, there is no discount rate charged. There is typically a small transaction fee per occurrence.

4. How does a transaction show on the customer statement?
The customer will see your business name as you entered in your gateway profile at set-up.

5. Can I do refunds, credits and voids from my iPhone?
Yes, choose whichever transaction you need from the Transaction Screen (credit card or check). It is easy and you also have the ability to search the Transaction History by a number of different criteria to find the original transaction to perform the desired function.

6. What kind of reporting can see on my iPhone?
Ippa has a very robust data search capability. You can look up transactions by Customer Name (first or last), last 4 digits of the account number or order number, by date range and sort by Declined or Approved

7. Can I provide customer transaction receipts?
Yes, a receipt is automatically generated and sent to the customer’s e-mail address entered on the Sale Screen. A copy of the receipt is also sent to your e-mail address as listed in your Gateway profile.

8. Can I be talking on my iphone and processing payments at the same time?
Yes. If you are already on a call you can use the iphone processing application. However, If you take an inbound call while the application is open then the transaction will be terminated.

9. What is the processing time?
It can take from a few seconds to 20 seconds depending on the type and strength of your data connection.

10. How soon will funds be deposited into my bank account?
Funds are typically deposited within 24-48 hours into your bank account.

You would need purchase a Ippa application for each merchant account but you would only need one Gateway account.

12. What is a Payment Gateway and why is it required?
A Gateway provides the complete infrastructure to authorize, capture and settle online credit card purchases and check processing in an efficient, secure, and certified environment. A Gateway works in conjunction with merchant accounts to enable the flow of money between consumers, merchants and issuing banks. The Gateway also provides you with the ability to facilitate payments on your computer through a virtual terminal as well as your iphone. Gateway accounts typically have a monthly fee and a per transaction fee.

13. What is a Merchant Account?
This special kind of bank account is what allows you to accept credit card payments online. A business establishes the account with a bank or other financial institution who agrees to pay for valid credit card transactions. In return, the bank collects the obligation owed by the customer. Credit card companies like Visa and MasterCard require all businesses to obtain a merchant account. Merchant accounts typically have a monthly statement fee and a per transaction fee and can have minimum processing requirements.

14. If I already have a Ippa supported Gateway account, are there additional fees?
No, there are no additional fees for using Ippa if you are on a Ippa supported Gateway.
